Step 1- SetTing a Budget for Your outdoor wedding.
Details are the fun part but before you settle on these you need to set a realistic budget -this is crucial. Outdoor weddings often require additional costs for structures, power, and facilities.
Key Expenses to Consider:
Venue hire (if not using private land)
Marquee or tent hire
Catering and bar services
Furniture and décor
Toilets and generator hire
Entertainment and sound system
Photography and videography

Step 2- Choose the Perfect Marquee or Tent.
Your choice of structure will set the tone for your wedding. Here are the most popular options:
Pavilion Yurts – Elegant and unique, offering a warm and intimate atmosphere.
Pole Marquees – Classic and traditional, great for a stylish garden party feel.

Step 3- Select Your Venue.
You’ll need to choose a location that allows for a marquee or tent setup, has enough space and access for the necessary infrastructure if it's not already there.

Step 4- Understand Legal Requirements.
To avoid last-minute surprises, make sure to check legal requirements such as:
Permits & Permissions – You will need a Temporary Events Notice (TEN) if you are selling alcohol or have live music. Your bar provider or wedding coordinator should be able to arrange this for you. Just to note - there is a small fee involved for these but could be included in quotes from your supplier.
Marriage Licences – You are only able to have a legally binding ceremony outdoors at licensed venues in England & Wales, if your chosen venue isn't licensed, then you will need to get the legal bit done prior to your big celebration.
Noise Regulations – If you are using private land - some areas have strict policies on amplified music, but for most it is only an issue between the hours of 11pm - 7am. It is always worth a quick check with the local authority.
Polite Notices - It is a good idea to inform the local community/neighbours that you are holding a celebration stating there will be increased traffic to the area and things may be louder than normal for the day. This should keep them onside as it is only one day.

Step 5- Plan for the Weather.
Outdoor weddings require backup plans in case of unexpected weather changes.
Weather Contingency Plan:
Rain Plan – Have additional covered spaces, sides on your main marquee, consider providing spare umbrellas or wellies for guests.
Wind Considerations – Ask your marquee provider about wind considerations and plan for securing décor against gusts.
Heatwave Prep – Provide shade, fans, and hydration stations.
